YOUNG CROW AND NEW MOON
Sporting the tell-tale blue eye of an adolescent crow, this panel captures the moment when both bird and moon reveal their newborn brilliance.
The background is a translucent iridescent Youghiogheny glass. Blue-green branches, a moon of green and pale yellow Uroboros mottled glass, and a crow's body of cobalt blue iridescent Oceana, with a stipple blue eye, all complete this work.
After cutting and grinding each piece of glass, the whole is copper foiled, silver soldered, patinated, polished and waxed. A durable and strong surround of antiqued zinc is added, signed in copper plate. The final touch is a Don Scott custom solid cherry hardwood frame, with through tenons and Texas ebony pegging.
A special one-of-a-kind commission for a lover of all things nature, this panel will find its home in an historic cottage and haven for wildlife in Abita Springs, Louisiana. What could be more fitting!
