FLATS HANDKERCHIEF VASE II

For this unique and substantial vase, I’ve used “flats”, which are composed of glass frit that has been compressed as it fuses to form flattened wafer thin rounds of blue, reds, rusts, mauves, greens, yellows and varied hues in between. These are then fused on a pure white ground and finally slumped into vase form.

To the interior I have chosen striated sky blue from Wissmach Art Glass. The combination makes for a lively vase ideal for dried or fresh flowers, or as a centerpiece all its own.

This work measures 8.5”x 9” and , as always, is unique and created in the piney woods of the Mississippi gulf coastal plain.

Glass is an amazing material. It never dulls, fades, or changes shape or color. To say that it is a form that lasts forever is only a slight exaggeration (glass created in Mesopotamia over 4,000 years ago can appear as if it were crafted yesterday).

All profits are donated to animal rescue.
