A fine example of Craftsmen quarter sawn oak, created by Phil Myer, is my “frame” for this one-of-a-kind table lamp.
The glass I have chosen is a remarkable mottled green/blue Youghiogheny iridescent stained glass with a distinctly “hammered” surface (Youghiogheny serial
#6064 HS i). This accentuates the hues of blues, silvers, purples, greens and reds that are part of the iridescent surface (think of the Morpho butterfly). A kiln-formed cabochon of primary yellow/orange adds real dimension.
Perfectly suited as a reading lamp or a centerpiece fixture, where it will garner considerable attention.
As ever, this work has been created in my studio in the piney woods of the Mississippi coastal plain.
