This plate fools the eye when presenting itself as a “false cracked plate”. In reality, this sleight of hand is achieved with the use of a layer of clear glass over which is placed an actual shattered layer of striated blue stained glass. Into the cracked spaces I have poured jet black frit capped with clear frit. The entire piece is then fused and slumped to form the present work. It's eye-deceiving and completely unique. The center well makes it perfect for pasta, red beans, etc.
And like all my creations, each is brought to life in the piney woods of the Mississippi coastal plain. And also available in a set of four, each with its own “fractured” design.
