ONCE IN A BLUE MOON LIBRARY LAMP
Eight “medieval” style hand-painted, patinated and high-fired moon phase rondels by English glass artist, Brenda Henderson, are the focal point of this one-of-a-kind library table lamp, highlighted by a Phil Myer shade structure of quarter-sawn Michigan white oak, and a superb hand-thrown pottery “crow” base by the artisans at Ephraim Pottery.
Each rondel is surrounded with copper foiled and silver soldered opalescent and variegated blue and white Youghiogheny glass , highlighted by accents of fine Uroboros confetti glass of pale purple, evergreen and warm rose. And on the buttress stands a sage and knowing black crow overseeing the waxing and waning of the immutable moon.
A lamp never again to be duplicated.
Above the quiet dock in mid night,
Tangled in the tall mast’s corded height,
Hangs the moon. What seemed so far away
Is but a child’s balloon, forgotten after play.
